note to mexico city fans.

so i have to apologize and explain about the festival in mexico on dec 1st. we were confirmed to do this gig, and when we were traveling back from brazil we got a call from the promoter that the festival was cancelled. all of our equipment was about to leave brazil for mexico city, and we had booked our flights for everyone (difficult, as we all live in different places), so a mad dash was made to re-route everything.

i cancelled all the flights from new york, and our tour manager amos and mix engineer cancelled the other flights and stopped the gear--this was done from the airport as we were changing planes.

then back in nyc. a lot of crazy work, cancellation fees, kill fees, contacting the crew and band to let them know they could take the other work they'd turned down etc. etc.

2 days after THAT we were contacted by the festival promoters that the festival was back on. but our gear, half our crew, and 2 band members were now not available. it's a pretty insane situation, but it's what it is. i have to say, nothing like this has ever happened to us... we've had shows go funny, but not festivals (well, that's not true--we had 2 festivals in france cancelled day-of due to strikes, but they weren't "back on" afterwards).

it's a terrible situation. we were really looking forward to playing in mexico. some of us had apartments booked to come and stay for the week and really get to know the city a bit more. we were ready. but there's nothing we can do now, and we're very sorry. we will come again someday, and hopefully make a lot of friends.

dfa records/capitol music group has released a new lcd digital ep "a bunch of stuff"  the ep includes franz ferdinand's cover of lcd soundsystem's single, "all my friends," plus remixes of other songs from _sound of silver_ by soulwax ("get innocuous"), carl craig ("sound of silver"), windsurf ("us v them") and gucci sound system ("time to get away"). the ep also has lcd soundsystem performing live on kcrw's "morning becomes eclectic" performing "us v them."

james murphy will be doing a dj set att he hiro ballroom in new york city on october 16. it's a free show if you rsvp.

the arcade fire split seven inch.

available exclusively at the lcd/arcade fire tour dates is a limited edition 7" single which has lcd's cover of 'no love lost’ by joy division on one side and arcade fires cover of serge gainsbourg's 'poupee de cire' on the other. it sells for $5.00.

any singles remaining after the tour will be sold through the bands websites. this single will not be available through any retail outlets.

1. there will be a limited edition 7" single pressed up for the lcd/arcade fire tour (the tour starts september 17 at red rocks -- check the gigs section for details). copies of the record will be available at the shows and the lcd soundsystem/arcade fire websites. the lcd side is a cover of joy division's "no love lost" and the arcade fire side is a cover of serge gainsbourg's "poupee de cire."

2. lcd will be performing on "the tonight show with jay leno" on september 19.

3. on september 18, lcd will release a digital ep in the us only entitled _a bunch of stuff_ of dfa/capitol, which will include franz ferdinand's cover of lcd's current single, "all my friends," plus remixes of other songs from _sound of silver_ by soulwax ("get innocuous"), carl craig ("sound of silver"), sorcerer ("us v them") and gucci soundsystem ("time to get away") as well as lcd soundsystem performing "us v them" live on "morning becomes eclectic."

4. artist doug aitken is currently shooting an experimental short film for the upcoming single "someone great," to be released in the uk on october 22nd.

5. two more lcd releases are on their way. on november 12, 45:33 will be re-released on CD and 2LP by dfa records. 45:33 will come with with three uk b-sides that were not previously released in the states. and fabric records will release _fabriclive36: james murphy & pat mahoney_, a mix album from james and pat, to be released october 15th in the uk and november 20th in the us.

for those of you going to see lcd soundsystem on their uk tour, make sure you get to the venues early. on each night, a limited amount of lcd flags will be handed out as people enter the gig. each of them will have a unique code. when you get home from the gig, just click here and enter your details.

the winners will then be contacted and should take their flag to an independent music retailer near where the gig they attended took place to pick up their prize which will be a prop from the video for "north american scum" -- a genuine one off lcd collectable!
